the least amount frustration.
Help! the screen is blank or off.
The monitors (CRT) are powered off via the power saver features of
Windows. The timing is:
- go to screen saver, 15 minutes
- power off CRT, 30 minutes
Please be aware that you do not
need to press any power buttons (either CRT or CPU) as that would turn off the
power to the device. To return power to the CRT simply press the spacebar (or
any other key) or jiggle the mouse and wait about 5 – 10 seconds for the CRT to
warm up and come up to power.

It takes so long to log in, why is it so slow?
Each user when logging in will create a local profile if it does not already
exist. This may take several minutes. A profile per person per computer is
created. These profiles are subject to removal daily by LAB staff. A patron may
change some aspects of their session, but should be aware that such changes are
stored in a profile that again is subject to removal; therefore such changes are
only temporary. Each computer/ user combination will be assigned a printer at
logon.
Do I need to log off when I am done?
Patrons are encouraged to logoff off the PC at the end of their session to
prevent other users from using their account. Abuse of computer equipment (per UMC policy) will be applied to the account of the abuser.
