  • PrimeAnswers: Best Evidence at the Point of Care. TRIAL web site. This web portal is being developed by the University of Washington  funded by a grant from the National Library of Medicine to improve access to appraised information for primary care providers in their daily management of patients. This searchable site brings together multiple EBM resources: UpToDate. MDConsult, the Guidelines Clearinghouse, patient handouts, therapeutic alerts and topic summaries.

  • TRIP: Turning Research Into Practice. Searchable database that brings together all the 'evidence-based' resources on the internet.  Includes guidelines, poems, cats, e texts and journals. Recommended as a starting point.

  • HSTAT: Health Services Technology Assessment Texts. Includes access to National Guidelines Clearinghouse, guidelines from CDC, and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).

  • National Quality Measures Clearinghouse   (AHRQ).

  • UNC Critically Appraised Topics. Alphabetical list of clinical topics/questions from the University of North Carolina, Department of Internal Medicine.

  • BestBets ( Best Evidence Topics). Listing of reviews relevant to Emergency Medicine compiled by the Emergency Department, Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK.

  • CATs (Critically Appraised Topics).  Based on guides developed at McMaster, topics are arranged by major clinical tasks such as therapy, diagnosis, prognosis etc. and compiled by the Southwestern Ontario Regional Academic Health Science Network. 

  • CATs. Evidence-Based Pediatrics. Searchable site of reviews arranged by subjects from the University of Michigan Health System.

  • UWO Evidence-Based Neurology. Searchable or browsable for reviews on pediatric neurology topics from the University of Western Ontario.

  • EBN Online (Evidence Based Nursing). An e journal published quarterly by the BMJ Publishing Group, alerts nurses to important clinical advances in therapy, diagnosis, etiology and prognosis.  Each issue includes about 24 original studies selected from abou 140 journals. 

          EBM Literature Databases

  • PEDro: The Physiotherapy Evidence Database. Maintained by the Centre for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy in Sydney, Australia, this is a searchable site for randomised controlled trials or systematic reviews on the effectiveness of therapies.

  • OTseeker: Occupational Therapy Systematic Evaluation of Evidence is a comprehensive database of randomised clinical trials and systematic reviews on the effectiveness of interventions.

  • SUMSearch. The University of Texas Health Science Center. Database search results are listed by breadth of information, that is, broad results are listed first and specific information follows to help the searcher choose needed information. Results come from e text, NLM resources, Cochrane and the NGC (National Guideline Clearinghouse).
