Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder
This guide is an introductory list to help locate research materials at the Rowland Medical Library. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a psychiatric disorder, can occur after experiencing or witnessing a life-threatening event such as combat, natural disasters, serious accidents, or violent assaults. Survivors who suffer from PTSD often re-experience the event through nightmares or flashbacks, feel detached, and have difficulty sleeping. Approximately 8 percent of Americans will experience PTSD during their lifetime.
